Full day excursion | Walking Tour of Milan | Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie

Today, discover the heart of Milan, a city rich in Renaissance heritage. Meet your local guide and explore Milan’s historic city centre on a guided walking tour, starting from your hotel.  Duration 2.5 hours.

Lunch is included as part of today’s programme.

Following lunch, continue to the Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie, one of Milan’s most beautiful examples of late Gothic architecture. Built by the Dominicans between 1463 and 1482, the church is world-renowned as the home of Leonardo da Vinci’s masterpiece, The Last Supper. This extraordinary mural, measuring 450 x 870 cm, covers the rear wall of the monastery’s dining hall and depicts the dramatic moment when Jesus announces that one of his apostles will betray him. Painted between 1495 and 1498, your guide will explain Da Vinci’s unique technique of applying the work to a dry wall—an approach that, while innovative, has made the painting extremely fragile.

Due to its delicate condition, access to The Last Supper is strictly controlled. Visits are limited in both group size and duration, with each group permitted a maximum of 15 minutes in a specially climate-controlled room.

Please note that The Last Supper is in exceptionally high demand and advance booking is essential. Entry times are typically confirmed by the supplier approximately 12 weeks prior to the visit date. While this visit is scheduled for today, it may be necessary to adjust the timing or day depending on ticket availability. In very rare circumstances, it may be necessary to substitute the visit to The Last Supper. Should this arise, you will be advised no later than the end of July 2026.

Very Important: This day involves a considerable amount of walking, including periods of standing and stair climbing, which are unavoidable, and is no suitable for those with reduced mobility.

The evening is at leisure.
