We depart on your direct flight from Dublin to Girona. On arrival we will be met by our tour leader and our local representative and we will be transferred by coach to our 4* hotel in Tossa De Mar where we will be staying for the next 7 nights. Dinner tonight and every night will be in the hotel.
Day 2 – Barcelona
Barcelona Panoramic Tour. This excursion offers a combination of free exploration in the city centre and a guided tour through key landmarks, providing a well-rounded experience of Barcelona’s culture, history, and scenic beauty.
We will have the free time to explore and enjoy the vibrant centre of Barcelona. Your options will be shopping, visiting the Cathedral, exploring the Gothic Quarter, or checking out the Picasso Museum.
The second part of the excursion consists of a tour along the main streets of Barcelona, with a stop near the Sagrada Familia. On the drive to the panoramic photo stop on Montjïch we pass the Olympic site. We will also stop at the Mirador del Alcalde viewpoint, one of the highest points in the city, to enjoy the view. Afterwards we will visit the Barrio del Borne (district with medieval architecture), where we will walk through the streets until we reach one of the largest parks in the city, La Ciutadella.
In the evening, we return to our hotel.
Day 3 – Day at leisure
Today is a free day to relax by the pool, unwind on the beach, or explore the Old Town of Tossa de Mar ( Vila Vella) at your leisure. Wander through the cobblestone streets of this medieval walled town, visiting landmarks like the Tossa de Mar lighthouse and the Castle.
Day 4 – Montserrat & Cava Tasting
In the morning, we embark on captivating journey to the multi-peaked mountain of Montserrat. Our adventure begins with a scenic train ride on the Cog railway to the Santa Maria de Montserrat Abbey, a spiritual haven perched amidst the peaks. This abbey is home to one of the most important religious sites in Spain, the revered statue (The Black Madonna), a symbol of profound cultural and religious significance. We will have the opportunity to view the Black Madonna up close.
After our lunch break, we will head to the renowned wine region of Penedès. There we will take a guided tour of the Freixenet winery and cellars, followed by a sampling of their sparkling cava wine.
Day 5 – Day at leisure
Today is yours to enjoy at your leisure. Consider venturing further afield to explore the stunning Costa Brava coastline. Hop on a bus or take a scenic boat ride to uncover hidden coves and picturesque beaches. Stop at Lloret de Mar for a scenic walk up to the iconic Castell d’en Plaja where breathtaking views await.
Day 6 – Figueres & Girona
In the morning, we will travel to Figueres, home to the Salvador Dalí Theater-Museum, which opened in 1974 and houses an extensive collection of Dalí’s works. You’ll have some free time here to explore the museum if you wish, or simply enjoy a stroll around Figueres.
In the afternoon we will travel to the historic town of Girona, where the traces of its Roman and medieval past coexist with the present, offering an image full of contrasts. Get lost in its labyrinth of alleys and prepare to travel back in time in the best-preserved Jewish quarter in Europe, admire the Cathedral with the widest Gothic nave in the world or be surprised by the colourful spectacle of the houses next to the Onyar River, which divides the city in two. It is not in vain that its medieval historic centre was chosen to film scenes from the popular series “Game of Thrones”.
In the evening, we travel back to the hotel.
