Let’s discover Italy on this guided holiday with a perfect combination of sightseeing and relaxation. Based in the picturesque town of Fiuggi, 60km southeast of Rome, we’ll be an ideal place to visit some of the most iconic sites in central Italy. On guided tours of the ‘Eternal City’, we’ll take in famous landmarks like the Colosseum and Trevi Fountain. You’ll also have free time to explore Rome on your own, and your expert guide will provide tips on what to do depending on your interests. Another excursion takes us to Umbria, whose green valleys and mountains from a pristine backdrop to Assisi, birthplace of St. Francis, is one of the world’s most cherished places of pilgrimage.

Itinerary
Day 1 (Travel To Italy):
We have arrived!
We meet our local representative and transfer to our hotel in the spa town Fiuggi.
Day 2 (Ancient Rome):
Let’s join our guide this morning and travel by coach to Ancient Rome. Today, we’ll explore the city on a guide walking tour while taking in the sights of the Colosseum and Roman Forum, as well as discovering Piazza Venezia, and the Trevi Fountain. We will have free time for lunch, shopping, and sightseeing before returning to Fiuggi in the late afternoon.
Day 3 (At Leisure):
Enjoy a full day at leisure in Fiuggi. Stroll through its pleasant streets, adorned with Liberty style facades and tree-lined parks, and check our the many small shops, cafes, and restaurants. In the hilltop old town, enter via the original Portella, and wander the cobbled streets, dotted with tiny churches and fountains. Sturdy shoes are recommended here! Take a coffee and a breather, and admire magnificent views over the Lazio countryside.
Day 4 (Tivoli & Villa d’Este):
Following breakfast join us for an excursion to Tivoli where we will visit Villa d’Este. The villa, listed a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a symbol of the Italian Renaissance famous for its gardens and splendid fountains. Lunch is included today at a typical Italian restaurant. There will be free time for independent sightseeing before returning to our hotel for our evening meal.
Day 5 (At Leisure/Optional Excursion To Ancient Ostia):
We will have a full day to relax and take it easy. Our guide will be happy to offer suggestions for activities and places to see in Fiuggi and the surrounding area.
Today’s full day excursion will include a guided walking tour of the archaeological site of Ostia Antica – sometimes known as ‘the better Pompeii’. This ancient harbour town, located 30km from Rome, was once a thriving Roman seaport during Julius Caesar’s time. Following our tour there will be free time at leisure before returning to our hotel.
Day 6 (Assisi):
After an early breakfast at our hotel we set off for a full day guided excursion to the historic city of Assisi, famous at the birthplace of St. Francis. Our visit will include a guided walking tour with wine tasting included at a local cellar followed by free time for lunch, shopping, and sightseeing. We will return to our hotel in the late evening for dinner.
Day 7 (At Leisure):
A further opportunity to relax and enjoy the lovely town of Fiuggi! You may wish to indulge in one of the thermal spa treatments for which Fiuggi is renowned, If you would like to return to Rome for further sightseeing, please consult your guide, who can advise on public transport options.
Day 8 (Return Home):
Time to say ‘arrivederci’ to Italy!
We’ll check out of our hotel and depart by coach to the airport for our return flight.
