Travel with us on a unique yoga holiday designed to help you escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life while discovering the stunning natural surroundings of Portugal’s southern coast. The Algarve, with its superb year-round climate, fantastic beaches, and dramatic landscapes, provides the perfect backdrop for a relaxing and rejuvenating yoga retreat.

Led by a highly qualified instructor from MOONS Yoga Loft (or Moons herself!), our daily Vinyasa and Hatha yoga sessions are designed for all levels, yoga novice to expert, and are thoughtfully themed to keep your practice fresh and engaging. Emphasizing slow, mindful movements with stronger holds (but optional always), each session provides variations to intensify or soften the poses, ensuring a personalised and enriching experience.

Beyond the mat, your afternoons are free to explore the natural wonders of the Algarve. Swim in the crystal-clear sea, cycle through picturesque landscapes, take a SUP (Stand-Up Paddleboarding) lesson, or simply relax by the pool and listen to the gentle sound of waves.

Itinerary

Day 1 (Travel To Portugal):

Let’s escape to the Algarve and depart Dublin for our flight to Faro Airport. Upon arrival, we will be met by our local representative at the airport before travelling to our hotel in Cabanas de Tavira, in the Algarve. Cabanas de Tavira is a tranquil small village offering a peaceful retreat away from the hustle and bustle of the busier resorts. Situated on the fringes of the picturesque Ria Formosa Natural Reserve, this hotel serves as the perfect sanctuary for our rejuvenating yoga escape.

This evening let’s kick off our retreat with a warm “Meet & Greet” evening, featuring our highly qualified yoga instructor from MOONS Yoga Loft. This initial gathering provides a perfect chance to get to know our teacher and fellow yogis with a friendly welcome chat and discussing our goals for the weekend.

Following the introductions, we’ll transition into a gentle and mindful yoga flow and stretch. Our skilled instructor will guide us through this calming session, helping us ease into the rhythm of our yoga holiday.  We’ll then wrap up the evening with a grounding meditation, allowing us to fully embrace our environment and prepare to immerse ourselves in a harmonious blend of yoga, nature, and wellbeing over the next few days.

Afterwards let’s join our fellow group members and teacher for a welcome dinner in your hotel. Let’s forge new connections over our evening meal and get ready for the three days of restoration that await us.

Day 2 (Twice Daily Yoga Session – 1):

Let’s begin each day of our yoga holiday with a rejuvenating yoga session led by our expert instructor from MOONSyoga Loft designed to feel revitalised and prepared to fully embrace the day. Weather dependent, these classes will take place on the roof top area overlooking the Atlantic and the nearby nature reserve. Our highly qualified teachers will guide us through a practice that awakens our body and mind, ensuring energy flows seamlessly from head to toe.

The morning classes start with gentle movements, gradually building into a nourishing Hatha Vinyasa flow that incorporates mindful breathing and meditation. We’ll engage in a series of slow fluid sequences designed to enhance flexibility, balance, and strength. As the session progresses, we’ll experience a heat-building flow that prepares you for the day ahead. Each class concludes with a grounding stretch and a soothing savasana, leaving us deeply relaxed and ready for a nourishing breakfast.

Each class will be tailored to the ability of the group and different options will be given for different levels, ensuring an enjoyable experience for all. Overall the message for every session is – take what you need and leave what you don’t. It’s your practice!

You will be free every afternoon to explore the town of Tavira and its surroundings areas. From exploring the nearby Rio Formosa Natural Park, the beach, shopping and the many cafes and restaurants, you are sure to be kept entertained in this charming rustic resort.

Each evening let’s embark on a journey of exploration and growth with our expert instructor from MOONSyoga Loft. Each session offers a focused restorative/integrative approach, resembling a specialised workshop rather than a traditional yoga class. Delve into targeted areas of the body as we move through carefully curated postures designed to deepen our understanding and connection with our practice. Deep physical release, soothing spiritual wellbeing and accessible meditations each evening.

But whether working with the physical body or meditating/brain training with more of a philosophical approach – each workshop/session holds its own transformative potential. With a wide range of themes introduced across the evenings these classes not only enrich our practice on the mat but also provide valuable insights to carry into our daily life and to our yoga practice at home. Following the evening session, indulge in a serene cool-down sequence/meditation, allowing our body to unwind and prepare for rest, leaving us refreshed and ready to embrace the tranquillity of the evening.

Day 3 (Twice Daily Yoga Session – 2):

Begin the day with a grounding practice that focuses on breath and mindful movement. Surrounded by the calming sounds of nature, you’ll feel refreshed and centred, ready to embrace the day’s adventures with a clear and open heart.

As the stars emerge, this deeply restorative practice will help you wind down. With a focus on deep breathing, meditation, and long-held stretches, you’ll feel your body melt into relaxation, preparing you for a restful and rejuvenating night’s sleep.

Day 4 (At Leisure & Return Home):

We will have some time at leisure to soak up the natural surroundings of Tavira before travelling to Faro Airport for our return flight home, carrying with us cherished memories of mindful movement and meditation amidst the stunning landscapes of the Algarve.
